OFFICIAL AVISO: Sr. Marites N. Perez, SJBP Appointed as Diocesan Director for Pontifical Mission Societies

CHALAN KANOA, Saipan — The Roman Catholic Diocese of Chalan Kanoa has officially announced a new appointment to its diocesan leadership.

His Excellency, Most Rev. Romeo D. Convocar, DD, Bishop of Chalan Kanoa, has appointed Sr. Marites N. Perez, SJBP, as the new Diocesan Director for the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS). The appointment is effective as of Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

As Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies, Sr. Marites will oversee the diocesan efforts to support the Church’s missionary work worldwide, including the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, the Missionary Childhood Association, the Society of St. Peter the Apostle, and the Missionary Union of Priests and Religious.

Sr. Marites, a member of the Sisters of Jesus the Good Shepherd (Pastorelle Sisters), brings a spirit of dedicated service to this vital role. Her leadership will be instrumental in fostering a missionary spirit among the faithful in Saipan, Tinian, and Rota, encouraging the community to pray for and support the global mission of the Church.

The Diocese invites the clergy, religious, and lay faithful to join in prayer for Sr. Marites as she begins this new chapter of her ministry, that she may be guided by the Holy Spirit in promoting the Gospel of Christ to all nations.
