San Jose Parish-Saipan’s World Youth Day delegate, Hannah Tenorio shares her memorable lunch experience with the Holy Father last August 4, 2023 at the Apostolic Nunciature in Lisbon, Portugal.
During the meal, Pope Francis didn’t ask questions but rather listened to the stories, answering questions, clarifying doubts and offering food for thought to the ten young people hailed from different countries. He also encouraged them to always be “happy”, like the saints who are never sad. They discussed a number of topics: peace, abortion and euthanasia, the challenges facing young people, and their hopes for the future.
Each of the participants presented a gift to the Pope and Hannah gave the Holy Father a seashell necklace and the Diocesan postcard with her message.
