MOUNT CARMEL SCHOOL RE-OPENS DISCOUNT ON REGISTRATION FEE

In the wake of the passage of the CNMI Workforce Act and the lifting of government austerity measures, Mount Carmel School announced that it is re-opening the discount on registration fees that was originally restricted to students who registered back in May under the school’s annual “Early Bird” discount.

“Many former and prospective parents wanted to enroll their children, but uncertainty around immigration and economic issues discouraged them from registering,” said school president, Galvin Deleon Guerrero. He added, “But now, with the Workforce Act and the easing of austerity measures, parents are in a better position to send their kids to Mount Carmel School.”

The decision to re-open the registration discount was made after the school’s leadership consulted with Bishop Ryan P. Jimenez, the corporate head of the school, and the chair of the school’s board of directors and AlumKnight, Vicente Babauta.

In those deliberations, Deleon Guerrero said that the re-opened discount is important to the Catholic mission of the school. As he put it, “We are here not just as a school, but also as an extension of our church’s ministry to help those in need.”

Deleon Guerrero explained, “There were a number of parents and students who loved being here or wanted to come here, but could not afford it. We certainly should not penalize them for the hard choices that they had to make. Hopefully, this re-opened registration discount will make it easier for parents and their children.”

The discount lowers the regular $400 registration fee by half, to $200. For parents that registered after the Early Bird deadline in May, the remaining $200 will be credited towards their tuition payments for the year. The school also announced that parents have until August 17 to avail of the re-opened discount on registration fees.

The school will also continue family discounts for families that enroll more than one child.  Families with two children can avail of a $600 discount for the second child, families with three children can avail of a $1,000 discount for the third child, and families with four children can avail of a $1,500 discount for the fourth child.

The first day of classes for school year 2018-2019 will be on Thursday, August 9. To learn more about enrolling at Mount Carmel School for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year, call 234-6184 or visit www.mountcarmelsaipan.com.
