Advent Reflection with Sr. Angela

The clergy, religious, and staff of the Diocese of Chalan Kanoa gathered for an Advent Reflection last December 11, 2023, at the Maturana House of Prayer. Sr. Angela Perez, RSM, one of the non-bishop voting members of the Synod of Bishops, facilitated the reflection. Sr. Angela participated in the Synod of Bishops held in Rome last October. Activities in this Advent gathering also included a practice session on “Conversation in the Spirit” and the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

In his homily, Bishop Ryan shared about the pectoral cross that was given to him by Pope Benedict XVI on December 16, 2011, when he was the Apostolic Administrator of the diocese. This cross has always been on his altar and Bishop Ryan only used this cross on his Mass at the Cemetery last Monday upon learning about the death of Pope Emeritus and today’s Requiem Mass.
