Prayer is a Relationship

Messages, news and information are sent and received through various ways in seconds and minutes all over the world because of social media connectivity and some sort of relationship between and among people.

People in good relationship share experiences, thoughts and feelings, spend time in conversation and find joy in each other’s company. Where there’s genuine love, there’s genuine relationship so they say.

Similarly, prayer is basically a Relationship. In prayer, we relate ourselves to God, we tell Him our concerns, our plans, our needs, ask for forgiveness, seek His blessing and guidance, and express our love for Him. When we have established good relationship with Him, though not physically visible, yet we’re aware of His presence and we can always reach out and talk to Him like a friend and a Father. If we can spend hours of conversation with friends and loved ones, we can do too with God in our relationship with Him in prayer.

No prayer nor attendance at Mass is too long or short, boring or tiring, but delightful, inspiring and fulfilling if we have a happy prayer relationship with God.

Let us be persevering and patient in our prayer. God will surely answer our petitions in His own way and time. He listens with full attention, hears our words spoken or unspoken deep in our heart. The late Cardinal Jaime L. Sin of Manila used to say;” Prayer is the strength of man and the weakness of God. What it means is that, our prayer touches the weak spot of God, his merciful heart that is, and he grants what we ask for because of His great love for us.

On the flip side, someone said that, one of the first things the devil always does is to make people stop praying. Tears are prayers too. They travel to God when we can’t speak. There are two amazing places you can be. The nicest place is to be in someone’s thoughts and the safest place is to be in someone’s prayers. Time goes by fast and life is short. Never waste precious moments on negative people but spend time in the ones who stand by your side. Love is not about how many days, months, or years you’ve been together. Love is about how much love you love each other every day. People who spend prolonged hours working on computers or watching TV are likely to suffer from TATT (Tired all the time) syndrome. Be with someone who is proud of you, someone you can laugh with, someone who listens to you, understands you, who treats you well and makes you a priority. Don’t be a beggar of love, be a donor of love. Beautiful people are not always good, but good people are always beautiful. Forgive people in your life, even those who are not sorry for their actions. Holding on to anger only hurts you, not them. Always find time to laugh. It may not add years to your life, but it will add life to your years. Amen on that folks!!

St. Faustina wrote Jesus’ words; “My daughter, those words of your heart are pleasing to Me, and by saying the chaplet you are bringing humankind closer to Me.” ( Diary 929). Pray the Divine Mercy prayer at 3 p.m. everyday. Daily pray the Chaplet and the Holy Rosary every day for peace in our families and in the world.
