Since  March 4, 2018– the 90th anniversary of the Mercedarian Missionaries of Berriz arrival to Saipan-activities have continued to promote their foundress’ Cause for Canonization.

On March 21 – the new book on M. Margarita was  made available to the public.  Ryan Jimenez, Bishop of the Diocese of Chalan Kanoa, did the unveiling.   Copies are  still available at $15/book at the Mt. Carmel Rectory.

On May 4 – The winning Mt. Carmel School students of the 90th anniversary Essay, Art and Poetry contests came to present their works to the Sisters and receive their awards.  The sisters, in turn, pre-pared little gifts of appreciation and a light merienda for all to enjoy together.

On July 25 concluding the Triduum of celebrating Mother Margarita–all were invited to the regularly scheduled 6pm Mass at the Cathedral.   Those graced with the name of Margaret, Margarita or Daisy received a special blessing and a pen. with a daisy on top.

On October 19 after the entire 600+ students of Mt. Carmel School finished praying the rosary, which they do every-other-week, the Causa Coordinating Committee did a short presentation for Mission Sunday, which was that weekend.  We shared the short (six minute) MP4 video clip in English on Berriz and M. Margarita  from our Museum there in Berriz.  Mary Ann Becmer’s voice at one point in the video is very clear!
