On Wednesday, August 14, 2019, Mount Carmel School held its annual Open House event to give parents and families a chance to meet their child’s teachers and advisors for the new school year.

After all the teachers, staff, and administrators were introduced, families spent time visiting their children’s classrooms. While in the classrooms, teachers shared information on class standards, academic goals, and communication expectations and procedures to help each child succeed. Parents were also encouraged to walk around the campus and gain more familiarity with the school.

“For the last two weeks, we have started each week reminding our students that we are family,” said Mount Carmel School principal Barbara Merfalen. “In keeping with that value, we have encouraged many of our parents to be as involved in their child’s academic journeys and the Open House event was the first of many we hope to have this school year.”

At the beginning of the event, parents assembled in the Maturana Building on campus for an opening prayer led by deacon Roski Camacho, followed by welcoming remarks by MCS president Dr. Galvin Deleon Guerrero, and introductions of the faculty and staff of the school. After sharing general housekeeping information, parents were given the time to walk around campus and meet with their child’s teachers.

First time MCS parent, Trinaleen Guerrero shared, “We are especially looking to learn more about what her teacher’s focuses are for the new school year and how we can help our daughter succeed as well.”

Trinaleen’s partner, Cadez Tenorio, also shared, “This is a whole new experience for us because we’re first time parents at Mount Carmel School, but what we are most eager for are the learning opportunities for our daughter and how her teachers will help her transition in as a new student.”

During the event, MCS parent and AlumKnight Eleanor Cabrera shared, “I’m very excited for this new school year. I have two of my sons attending MCS and as an AlumKnight myself, I’m very excited to see how they’ll grow as individuals through their school work and the extracurricular activities they will participate in.”

For those interested in applying for admission, Mount Carmel School still has limited slots available in certain grade levels. For more information, call 234-6184 or visit mountcarmelsaipan.com
