Mount Carmel School 5th grade student, Leyonne Tolentino, was recently recognized by Achieve3000 for ranking as one of the nation’s top readers two years in a row. Achieve3000 consultant, Troy Akiyama, visited the school to personally congratulate Tolentino and his teacher, Mila Calibo, along with school principal, Frances Taimanao.
Achieve3000 is a nationally recognized program that offers online literacy instructional and assessment services across disciplines to improve student reading. Mount Carmel School has been using the program for two years as a way to boost student literacy as well as encourage reading in various subjects.
Achieve3000’s CEO, Saki Dodelson, reach out to personally congratulate Tolentino. “I was so excited to hear about Leyonne Tolentino’s accomplishment.” Dodelson emphasized how important this accomplishment is, saying, “Being recognized as worldwide winner twice is no small feat and can only be a result of a lot of hard work. We are excited to play a part in helping Leyonne achieve literacy success.”
School president, Galvin Deleon Guerrero, echoed Dodelson’s excitement.
