MISUNDERSTOOD

Someone shared with me the story about Mrs. Einstein who was once asked if she ever understood her husband’s “Theory of Relativity”. She said that she never did. Then when asked as how their marriage could last and be happy if she could not even understand his work? She simply that she “understands him”.

How you ever been misunderstood, bashed, criticized, despised, gossiped, rejected, opposed, discriminated, unjustly treated, etc..? If you’ve been, then welcome to Jesus’ club, for He had those and even worst. Mark’s Gospel 6:1 says:  And they took offense at him. Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and among his own kin and in his own house.” Misunderstanding is the worst distance between two people.

In Jesus’ time there were stalkers and gossipers like the Scribes and Pharisees who constantly monitored his words and works to find fault and accuse him to the Sanhedrin, their court. Things have not changed much from then to now for  gossipers abound everywhere who enjoy talking about other peoples’ lives, their  favorite pastime is to circulate rumors and fake news just about anything and anyone. They make up stories, defame and assassinate people’s honor and character. Some have become masters of deception and experts of story-telling of lies. Our world has turned mean and unfair in many aspects of life. The old sage says that if someone talks to you negatively about others, that person will likely do the same behind you and if you point your finger at someone, three fingers point back at you, therefore be careful. Take note, that a negative mind will never give you a positive life.

The 2018 World Cup Football is on-going in Russia these days. We are often focused on the great players such as Neymar, Mbappe, Zagallo, Isco and other stars. But have you ever noticed the referees who run back and forth with the players during the entire game without substitute? They make sure that the game is played fairly and sportingly.

Our society needs people who are sacrificing, fair, makers and carriers of peace, advocators for the poor, the helpless, the ignorant and promoters of justice. Are you one of them? If you are, blessed are you for you are in the side of Christ.

God’s blessings also consist of strengthening us to face the tough challenge of life, to lift us up in times of pain and loss of loved ones, to encourage us to move on despite of failures, to inspire us in times of setbacks and defeats, to bring light in our moral life’s darkness, to hope when things seem hopeless and to give us real peace which He alone can give.

On the flip side, someone said that sometimes, it’s not the people who change, but the mask that falls off. There’s nothing as painful when you are stuck somewhere you don’t want to belong. Here are two things they say that prevent us from happiness: living in the past and observing others and  stop looking for happiness in the same place you lost it. Your best teacher is your last mistake. The real test of kindness, is to be kind to the unkind. Where sin runs deep, God’s love runs deeper. Amen on that folks!!

St. Faustina wrote Jesus’ words; “ Before I come as the Just Judge, I am coming as the King of Mercy”. ( 83).

Pray the Divine Mercy every 3 p.m. Daily pray the Chaplet of Mercy and the Holy Rosary for peace in our families and throughout the world.
