JULY: Mother Margarita’s Month

July is an exciting month in the life of Mother Margarita Maria Maturana, because during this month God graced her with several glorious events.

July 23 – Mother Margarita went to her heavenly home on July 23, 1934.

July 24 – When Mother Margarita was declared “Blessed” in 2006, the Catholic Church assigned July 24th as her official Feast Day

July 25 Mother Margarita was born into this world Maria Pilar Lopez de Maturana, along with her twin sister Leonor, on July 25, 1884.

As a community of FAITH we are grateful for Mother Margarita’s special mission to these islands and for all that the Mercedarian Missionaries of Berriz (MMB) have contributed and continue to give to our church.  In addition, we continue to pray that one day Mother Margarita will be canonized by the Catholic Church.

On Mother Margarita’s Feast Day, Wednesday, July 24, Bishop Ryan Jimenez will preside at the 6 p.m. Mass at Mount Carmel Cathedral.

We invite everyone to celebrate with joy Mother Margarita’s missionary work here on Saipan and the other islands in the Pacific where the Mercedarians Missionaries of Berriz (MMB) have contributed to spreading the Good News of salvation. On this occasion, all those whose names are Margarita or Daisy (Margarita means Daisy in Spanish) are once again invited to receive a special blessing.

Please join us for Mass on this very special day, July 24, 2019, and share the joy and graces of Mother Margarita Maturana, who shared God’s joy and love with us.

About Novenas

Novenas are powerful prayers to be prayed with a SPECIFIC INTENTION in mind.  You pray them for nine consecutive days.  The nine days represent the number of days the Disciples prayed in the Upper Room waiting for the Holy Spirit to descend to them.  Novenas are a spiritual weapon the Church passes on to us.  Novenas are not a kind of magic, they can make miracles happen if we have a humble, forgiving heart and true belief in the Power and Will of God.  Novenas of Blessed Mother Margarita are available in ten languages in the rectory.  Many prayers have been answered through these novenas.
