The delegates, translators and secretaries of the XVI General Chapter of the Mercedarian Missionaries of Berriz at their motherhouse in Berriz, Spain. One month was spent in the Chapter, in this every six year gathering, by the sister-delegates from around the world in prayerful discernment of their ONE MISSION.
The newly elected leadership team of the Mercedarian Missionaries of Berriz for 2018-2024 (L to R –the Sisters’s name and country of origin) Councilors: Valentina Oripaypay – Philippines, Julia Prado – Peru; Lourdes Gorostola – Spain, new General Coordinator; Councilors: Isabel Seman – Northern Mariana Islands and Yvette Kingubile – Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa.

The spirit of Blessed Margarita Maria Maturana pervaded the XVI General Chapter of the Institute of the Mercedarian Missionaries of Berriz which she founded.  An updated Missionary Plan for the next six years (2018-2024) was formulated, along with the election of a new governing structure and leadership team.

Our own–Sr. Isabel Seman–from Saipan, was elected as one of the Councilors.  She served in the same capacity from 1984 to 1996 and now is called to serve once again.  Two of the other Councilors, Sr. Julia and Sr. Yvette were both previously missioned to Saipan in 1995 and 1998, respectively.  Our thoughts and prayers accompany the entire leadership team in their new roles of service within the MMB community and look forward to their visits in the years to come.

Blessed Margarita Maria intercede to God for the gift of new Mercedarian vocations from our islands!
