Excited

Someone shared this little trivia of how the word “excited “came to be. One day a man felt so happy when he saw his ex-girlfriend at the distance in the mall. Before he went to bed that night, he wrote in his diary; “extremely happy today, Ex sighted. “

I had so much excitement when I found the lost item I’ve been looking for after praying to St. Anthony of Padua. A neighbor was very happy and excited when his dog showed up after having been astray for several days. Happily looking forward, though mixed with anxiety and suspense, our family was filled with much joy and excitement when my nephew Jesus Joel Mari Arzaga passed the Bar Examination released last May 03, 2019. Excitement follows when something lost is recovered, a problem solved, a goal achieved, success reached, a loved one returns from military assignment, a son or daughter or son comes home for vacation or a planned trip is forthcoming.

The bottom line is the excitement of God in the parables of the Lost Sheep, the Lost Coin and the Prodigal Son when sinners change and repent. We have a God who doesn’t give up on us when we are lost in sin or become unfaithful to him attracted by money, pleasure and power. We have a God of second, third and more chances when opportunities to reform and make good of our life are lost.

There are many church goers who no longer feel the enthusiasm of attending the Mass and receive Holy Communion but go anyway out of compliance or just a routine. We don’t need present day Pharisees and Scribes whose trade is just to criticize and despise others or even the church when they don’t conform to their wants and standards. What we need are simple and humble Christians who volunteer their time, talent and treasure silently but joyfully for the church or the community and not for self-esteem and credit.

When you no longer look forward to attend Mass on Sundays and Holidays or feel the joy and excitement of receiving Jesus in Holy Communion, it’s probably because you have put your attention more on yourself, your business, career, appointments and pleasure rather than for the Lord of your work and success.

Someone said that mistakes have the power to turn you into something better than you were before. Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm. A moment of patience in a moment of anger saves you a hundred moments of regret. Maturity doesn’t mean age. It means sensitivity, manners and how you react. Sometimes people with the worst past, end up creating the best future. It’s not the load that breaks you down, it’s the way you carry it. Worrying doesn’t take tomorrow’s troubles, it takes away today’s peace. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start again, it’s never to late. When I was a student, I used to admire intelligent and high careered professors; as I grow older, I admire kind and humble ones. A wise person knows that there is something to be learned from everyone. Amen on that folks!!

St. Faustina wrote Jesus’ words; “Not in the beauty of the color, nor the brush lies the greatness of this image, but in My grace.” (Diary 313).

Pray the Divine Mercy every 3 p.m. Daily pray the Chaplet of Mercy and the Holy Rosary for peace in our families and in the world.
