Eskuelan San Fracisco de Borja embarked on a one day sponsored prayer campaign for peace on Monday, August 14, 2017.
The Luta community faithful’s joined the students at the San Francisco de Borja Church for rosary prayer and song to draw attention to more than a hundred thousand lives in Guam and the CNMI at stake amid the escalating tensions between the U.S. and North Korea.
The student led prayer and song is in support of a movement to end the North Korean missile crisis targeting Guam and the Mariana Islands.
“Communal action is needed to help end the ongoing bickering or conflict between the United States and North Korea,” said administrator/principal Carmen H. Atalig.
“Also this communal action is intended to touch the hearts of the Catholic community to assist in praying and increase dialogue for peace instead of war,” added Atalig.
In addition, Atalig stated the intention of the prayer and reflection is for peace in our region and other areas in the world where there are conflicts.
“Let peace start with us,” said student body vice president Kaitlyn Balgoa. “Saying a Prayer of Peace would help. Prayer is strong. We all should pray.”
“I was thinking about the ongoing conflicts while praying. I thought of my brother in Hawaii. My teacher in school, Mr. Ed (Maratita), and our principal’s son,” said student body president Auston Guiawan. “I just want all this conflicts to end, for everybody to just live in peace with God.”
Atalig added, “Knowing the genuine spirit of our Luta parishioners, I am confident that they will embrace a path of peace and prayer.”
The administration and faculty would like to extend their appreciation to the students who led the prayers and song, parents, and the Luta community for joining the Prayer for Peace. Thank you, Un Sen Dangkulo Na Si Yu’us Ma’ase, Oloomway, and Maraming Salamat Po!
