Diocesan Clergy leaves for Philippines for Retreat

Bishop Ryan and the clergy of the Diocese of Chalan Kanoa will leave for the Philippines this coming Monday for their canonically mandated retreat. The retreat will be held at St. Paul Renewal Center in Alfonso, Cavite, Philippines from Monday until Friday. They will be back next Saturday in time for the weekend Masses.

Canon Law requires every bishop to spend days of retreat with his clergy at least once every two years as part of the ongoing formation of the clergy. This retreat was first scheduled in 2018 but because of Super Typhoon Yutu, it was cancelled, and last year, the retreat was not scheduled because of the clustering re-assignments of all the clergy.

Because of this retreat, there will not be any weekday Masses in almost all the parishes in Saipan, Tinian and Rota. The only weekday masses this week will be at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cathedral every 6 AM. At San Jose parish in Oleai, there will be weekday evening Masses beginning on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 as they begin the Novena Masses in preparation for the celebration of their annual Fiesta in honor of San Jose on March 19th.

We ask all the faithful for prayers in this week for Bishop Ryan, our priests and our deacons.
