Better Catholics – Ep. 5: Stewardship

What is collection money used for?

According to Canon Law, “The Christian faithful are obliged to assist with the needs of the Church so that the Church has what is necessary for divine worship, for the works of the apostolate and of charity, and for the decent support of ministers.” (Canon 222 §1)

But with this obligation imposed on the faithful comes the need for the church to practice responsible stewardship.  The church, as a good steward, takes care of the limited resources it receives and ensures that they are spent responsibly, are put into best use that benefits the faithful, and are fully accounted.

This episode hopes to address valid concerns that many may have about church finances.
