Better Catholics – Ep. 14:  Diaconate Program

2554 0

The Order of Deacons is part of the hierarchy of the Catholic Church and an integral part of the Sacrament of Holy Orders.  Deacons has three essential functions:  the proclamation of the Gospel, the service of the liturgy, and the administration of charitable works.  Permanent deacons are especially helpful in missionary areas where a shortage of priests existed, much like here in our own diocese.

We currently have five deacons serving our diocese who celebrated their 4th year of ordination last April 2022.  In a few more years we are hoping to add more with the ordination of our current candidates.  The program is certainly open to welcome anyone who wishes to join and serve the faithful.
