Mango is in season nowadays here in Guam as you see mango trees especially in the south bedecked with fruits ready for picking, in fact there was mango festival there. To bear fruit among other things means to be productive from what you’re engaged in, to deliver good results from your task, make good of your promises, do good performance at work, school or organization? Some people bear fruit by giving volunteered community services or offering ride to the church or mall to someone who doesn’t drive. Others bear fruit by giving free extra time and effort for a good cause.
Do our bearing fruit glorify God? Yes and No. They do when we sincerely serve our neighbor, when we ask forgiveness for some hurts done to others, or forgive hurts done to us. They do when we show compassion and understanding, when we give without expecting anything back, when we rejoice at the good performed by others, when our language is not foul or mean.
On the other hand, they don’t when we do things for selfish motives, to please others or for a show. They don’t if we believe that our achievement is purely and solely accomplished through our own ability without God’s grace. They don’t when we fail acknowledge our faults and shortcomings.
We bear much fruit of success when we are connected with God the source of wisdom and strength. We bear much fruit of integrity by honest living and sincere dealing with others. With God we can do everything and make things happen with successful results. “I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit.” (John 15: 5). Stay connected with the Lord in prayer and sacraments.
On the flip side, someone said that if God permits the challenge, he will provide the grace to meet. Focus on Me not the storm says the Lord. (Mt. 14:22-23). God shines through the cracks of broken people. Then you will call and the Lord will answer, you will cry for help and He will say, “Here am I. (Isaiah 58:9). God will never put weight on your shoulders that you can’t carry. Love in the reality of God is love and forgiveness. God reveals certain things to you for a reason. Amen on that folks!!
