Someone shared the story about a wife asking her husband whether it’s true that a person speaks an average of ten thousand words a day. “It’s true, he replied, but remember, honey, you are above average.” With that he got cold treatment from her the whole week.
Some people think of themselves above average compared to others because of the quality and quantity of their life, having much wealth and power.
Consider this story. One day, two ladies met at the mall. “Jane, right? “ Do we know each other? She surprisingly asked. “Yeah, the other lady answered, “we were classmates in high school.” I’m Mary.” Oh, yeah, in public school long time ago and that was before my Dad had business but after we moved to a plush housing subdivision, I never missed our old neighborhood. How about you, where do you live now? Jane asked. “Still in the same old neighborhood, “Mary replied. “ Oh, I’m sorry, to hear that,” Jane said, “ and by the way, my Dad will pick me up soon and we’ll spend the holiday together, in fact I bought some stuffs, ( Jane proudly showed off her LV bag to Mary). “ By the way, what are you doing here? She asked Mary. “Oh, uh, I just came from the thrift shop.” “ Eww, you’ll wear other people’s used clothes?” Jane sarcastically told Mary not use those clothes or she’ll get contaminated with germs and to ask her Dad to buy her new clothes instead. She said that her dad gave her his business credit card for shopping. “Your dad owns business, too right? Jane mockingly asked Mary. “Oh, no, my Dad doesn’t have that, he’s just a simple person.” Just then, Mary’s dad came, hugged her tenderly telling her that they’ll spend the holiday together. “Thank you very much Dad”, Mary said to him. “No worries, sweetheart, take your time and I’ll wait for you in the car. Mary face glowed with big smile. Then suddenly Jane’s family driver came up telling her that her dad is busy with his business and has no time to pick her up and he won’t be home for the holiday with her. Jane was very downcast. Mary told her, “ you know, my Dad doesn’t have much money, no business credit card and we don’t live in a plush housing subdivision, but he has quality time for me, we spend the holiday together, he sings for me with his guitar and drives me around town. He is the best dad in the world.
Lesson: If you want to know which is more valuable, time or money, ask a wife married to a soldier if she wants his pay check more than his being home, a daughter of a rich dad if she wants his business credit card more than or his presence. Time is more valuable than money because you can never get more time when your time is up. In the end is not how much money we have in our bank account that will matter, but how much we love, how much time we spent time with our family.
The Lord said; “for though one may be rich, one’s life doesn’t consist of material possessions. “(Lk. 12: 15). Your worth is not measured by money and your security by worldly things, rather put your value in the hands and in the heart of God.
On the flip side, someone said, that a good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, dream big, and realize how blessed you are. Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing. When you’re tempted to lose patience with someone, think about how patient God has been with you. A bad attitude is like a flat tire, you can’t get far until you change it. We all fail and but we can rise and heal. You get what you work for not what you wish for. You’ll never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory. Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise. Be soft and gentle, don’t let the bitterness of life steal your sweetness. What is done in love is done well. Happiness blooms from within. Amen on that folks!!
