CATECHETICAL FORMATION ON SACRED SCRIPTURES

Teaching CCD will not be complete without the knowledge of the Sacred Scriptures as what St Jerome once said: “Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ.” On Monday, February 19, 2018, the catechists of the Diocese will resume their catechetical formation on the topic: Introduction to Sacred Scriptures. The conference will be held in American Memorial Park Theater in Garapan beginning at 9:00 AM

The resource speaker for this conference will be Rev. Fr. James Balajadia who is the Pastor of St. Jude Parish. He has been giving classes on Sacred Scripture to the deacon candidates of the diocese and now he will orient the CCD catechists on the Sacred Scripture so that they can better integrate this knowledge to their respective CCD classes.

Fr. James, an alumni of MCS, pursued his college studies at Mt. Angel Seminary in St. Benedict Oregon where he earned a double major Magna Cum Laude in Philosophy and Literature. He continued with his masters in Theology at Mt. Angel until 2012, when he was accepted to Collegio Urbano in Rome. He did his studies at the Pontifical Urbaniana University until 2014, when he finished Theology Magna Cum Laude. His thesis was on “The impact on Vatican II on Canon Law and the Role of the Laity”.

After finishing in Rome, he returned home in the summer of 2014. Bishop Ryan placed him for a 6 month pastoral internship at Santa Soledad Parish under the direction of Pali Isak Ayuyu. He was ordained a deacon in October 2014 and then a priest on December 13th 2014 by Apostolic nuncio Archbishop Martin Krebs.

The conference is open to all CCD catechists and to anyone interested. For more information please contact the Office of Religious Education through Sr. Nina at 234-300 ext 112 or 285-1076.
