CATECHETICAL FORMATION ON CHRISTIAN MORALITY

897 0

The first catechetical formation for CCD catechists was centered on the reflection on the human person based on the anthropology of the Second Vatican Council and St. John Paul II. The next formation topic will proceed on to the succeeding reflections of who we really are as persons.

After asking “Who am I?” the next question would be, “Why do I have to be moral?” In the midst of the secular worldview in which “man is the measure”, the ultimate norm by which truth and values are to be determined, all CCD teachers are encourage to attend. Together we will reflect on a significant topic on CHRISTIAN MORALITY.

The basis of all Catholic Christian morality is our belief in the God who created all things and in Jesus who taught us even better how to live. We believe we are created in God’s image and that we, and all creation, are basically good. Yet we recognize our own tendencies toward evil, especially in an excess of our desires.

To help us journey into understanding of the distinction between right and wrong or good and bad behavior, a priest from the religious community of the Order of Agustinian Recollects, Saipan will share his knowledge on the topic. He took his Bachelor of Arts Major in Classical Philosophy in Baguio City, Bachelor of Arts in Sacred Studies in Recoletos Formation Center affiliated to the University of Sto. Thomas, Faculty of Sacred Theology and finished his Masteral Degree in Theological Studies in San Sebastian Graduate School both in Manila, Philippines.

Ordained deacon on April 9, 2007 and ordained priest on December 1, 2007, he served as a resident priest in Our Lady of Consolation Parish in Talisay City, Cebu Philippines. He also served as the Pre Novitiate Director and Master of the Professed in the Formation Houses of the Recoletos and School Administrator in University of San Jose Recoletos Cebu City, Philippines. Presently, he is the Local Superior of the Community of Recoletos and the Pastor of San Roque Parish here in Saipan.

Rev. Fr. Allan Cabatian, OAR was born in the first class province of the Philippines located on the Southwestern part of Luzon on July 6, 1979.

The catechetical formation will be on November 3, 2017 at Kristo Rai Social Hall at 9:00-12noon. This is part of the regular formation for CCD teachers but if there are those who are interested to attend, please contact the Office of Religious Education through Sr. Nina 285-1076.
